My neighbour recently got connected but I'm not eligible for some reason

Hi,

I've  been actively trying to get Virgin to come connect my house for years now. Filling in the form showing interest dozens of times but have had no success in the 10+ years of living at this property.

Recently my neighbour inquired about getting Virgin and had to get permission to have Virgin come and potentially run the line across my property. This has now come and gone and I know that my neighbour has access now. I've called to the customer support team to try and get an engineer out to survey/connect my property but only get transferred from department to department with nobody knowing what to do in this situation. Allegedly an engineer came out and decided it wasnt economically viable to pursue connecting the property but how come my neighbour who's further from a main road has been connected?

I'd greatly appreciate any help in this matter.

Thanks.

  • I've had the exact same issue pop up on my end, my neighbour inquired about getting Virgin and had to get permission to have Virgin come and run the line across my property but my house falls under "not accessible", calling into Virgin has proved useless in trying to resolve this.

Any help in this matter would be greatly appreciated.

Please raise a separate post. By tagging onto a 2 year old post you are likely to be missed, particularly as this post is marked as "solved".

I made a separate post just posted in this thread as well to get more eyes.

You said "potentially" run a line across your property. If VM did that, they would have needed your permission, in which case it's hard to see why they couldn't connect you. If they routed him a different way, then it could well be too costly to connect you.

It would be difficult to get an explanation.

I agree that they must've gone about it a different way. As I've said in the original post, I've been trying to get VM for a very long time and have had different excuses thrown my way from Virgin over the years. This year's latest was that a "resurface rule" was in place, presumable due to some phantom road works since no road works were done in the area in well over a year. I'm just hoping someone can look into it more than the phone support team who seems to have no access or ability to.

VM installations are so disorganised that there will be no record of why an installation has been refused.  And once it has been marked as unserviceable they are reluctant to spend money on another inspection that will likely find the same result.

The only time this might change is if the area is upgraded to full fibre and new routing is planned.

Have you checked with Openreach when they will upgrade your area?
