Moving router

Hi,

I’d like our router installed the opposite side of our house. Is this something that can be done, or will I have to route CAT6A outside?

Thanks,

James

  • Hi,

    Thanks both for responding.

The fibre from the road has been installed to the opposite end of the house. With this in mind, the fibre cable would need extending past its original installation point circa 30ft from the current entry into the house.

Does this still sound feasible under the relocation fee? Based on your response Adduxi, I wonder whether instead they’d just extend the coax cable (which in my case wouldn’t work as it’s too far).

    Thanks,

Also as the Hub uses co-ax cable (I'm assuming your on the older infrastructure), make sure this can be run from the existing Omnibox outside, to the new location of the opposite side of the house.

  • Hi Wasley_26

    Welcome to the Community Forums.
We recommend that the router be in the middle of the home to give it the best opportunity for WiFi coverage, but this will depend on your needs and in-home set-up. We also do not support any third-party setups, so we wouldn't be able to support you if you use your own third-party cabling in your in-home setup.
We can arrange for an engineer to come and relocate the router for you.
