Media Streaming from desktop pc

Hi

I have just upgraded from M350 with Hub 3 to 1 Gig with Hub 5. In the Hub 3 connection I was able to stream media to my Samsung smart tv from my desktop Windows 11 PC connected to the Hub 3 by ethernet. With the new setup the tv doesn't recognise the desktop pc (which is connected to the Hub 5 by ethernet) unless I also connect the TV directly to the Hub 5 with an ethernet cable. How was the TV able to recognise the PC before without a direct ethernet connection?

John

  • Hub 5 in Router mode appears to operate Wireless Access Point Isolation.
So Wi-Fi devices can reach the public internet but can not be contacted from the LAN or via Wi-Fi.

The Hub 5 is a shameful product that has now has a broken 2.5Gb/s port and is barely fit for
    use as a modem.

  • Do you have any pods, or is the TV connecting directly to the HUB 5's wireless?

No pods, TV directly to Hub 5 by ethernet, but I never had to do this when I had the Hub 3.

      Hi StreetGlide168,

Thanks for taking the time to contact us via the Community. It's lovely having you on board with us in the Forums.

We're sorry to hear that you're having issues with streaming between your TV and Desktop. As it's working with an ethernet cable, it may be that the TV hasn't connected to the new WiFi network correctly.

Can you make sure this is connected? If so, what sort of error do you get when you try to stream without the ethernet cable?

Pop back and let us know.

      Thanks,

        Hi Kath

Many thanks for that, I'd totally forgotten to connect the tv via the new wifi network!
        All working great now.
