Solved

I need an engineer

Our existing wall socket doesn't appear to work with the hub 5, it's a screw in one and doesn't want to go in.

Not impressed with being left to machines on call and online texts can someone please help me?

That is the correct wall box. Make sure the threaded socket is totally free of any debris such as paint, plaster etc. and the grooves of the threads are also clean and clear before trying the push fit connector.

What is the thick, white coaxial cable tracking from bottom left to right of the pic? Where does that go and what does it do?

Sometimes an old unused cable, with screw threads, from a previous installation is left behind and can be used instead of the push fit cable.

If you still cannot fit the cable, or get someone to do it for you, call the pre-installation and delivery team on 0800 052 1734 explain the problem and request a tech visit to make the connections for you (might be chargeable but I don't think it is for a failed Quick Start)

If you are using a new VM 'Quick Start' cable and trying to fit it to an existing VM wall socket .... the old VM connections were screw fit, the new connections are push fit. You have to push fit the cable onto the socket. It may well be a tight fit.

If the above is not what you are trying to do, post up some pic's of what you are trying to connect to/from and forum members will try to help you.

That's what we were trying to do yesterday, that's what I've tried again this morning. It does not fit!

Many customers have resorted to pliers or mole grips to force the push fit plugs onto the wall sockets and onto the Hubs, and the results has been reports of broken wall sockets and damaged to Hubs.

Given how precious VM are about the choice of coax, not using the correct threaded F-Plugs is difficult to grasp.

  • Is there a push fit to screw fit adapter I can buy to resolve this? I don't know if the line even works at the moment as I've not been able to plugin the hub to test.

  • I have attempted to attach an image but it was "waiting for approval" and has since disappeared from my end. Hopefully it appears soon!
