Had VM Business Broadband for only 2 months, experiencing MAJOR stress

About 2 months ago i switched from VM Personal to VM BUSINESS as my contract (which i had renewed for about 7 or so years) was about to expire and found a “wonderful” value contract with virgin business, and it was at a higher broadband speed than my previous contract. In BOLD it stated i only owe “£14.50” every month, which was great, however when i received my first bill, it was for £69.95 which is outrageous and i get very anxious about money especially in this cost of living crisis, so i phoned up and after many unprofessional callers handlers whod just shout at my face and end the call, i finally had a friendly handler who assured me theyd charge no more than 14.50 on my billing day. They also raised a complain internally to have this fixed and 2 days later i got a response from their manager at the HR department apologising and again, assuring me they wouldnt charge me the £69.95. Bearing in mind this whole ordeal took about a week to get sorted, i felt relieved HOWEVER i came to check my bank account was almost empty after seeing they LIED through their teeth and did charge me the amount a week later. At this point i was fed up after 20 ignored calls and others telling me i got the wrong department when i very much didnt, and i received another bill, this tome for £12, before the month was up. I was again confused and checked they charged me £4 of this for a PAPER invoice. I called them up AGAIN, to receive another rude reply from every handler, blaming me for everything and ended the call on me? i am so frustrated and upset, i will be contacting the Communications Ombudsman if this doesnt get resolved, after being a loyal customer for 7 years, never missing a payment, this is how they treat me.

  • Also forgot to add, that £69.95 bill didnt include a paper charge, so they just randomly introduced it without telling me and goving no explanation to how to access “MyBill” and surprise surprise they blocked my phone from accessing the website as everytime id sign up, i got NO verification email or any sort of link to make the account even though every single detail was correct. I expect VM to compensate me generously for this mental distress theyve caused me and i bet im not the only one who has been scammed, theres probably many working class poorer folk who they dont care about, seems as if their shareholders are everything to them

I have the VOOM 200 bundle, it states clearly i am to be charged £14.50 for the first 6 months i believe then theres a price increase, to 20 ish pounds i believe. I did not purchase any extras only the most basic package, as i had arranged it via call. Woman on the phone again assured me its only 14.50 and i checked my invoice in detail, it charged me around £58 just for the broadband and £11.95 (approx) tax. The tax wouldnt have been that high if the cost wasnt that high, and even if my broadband deal wasnt on offer and was just the normal sale price, it wouldve been no where near in the fities region.

odd that VM Business would be cheaper...maybe they do CGNAT or no modem mode

Its not odd because its what they state on their website. Its basically the same as my old broadband

      Knows their stuff

They have dynamic IP for lowest packages and create a GRE tunnel for static IP requests for higher tiers. Modem mode is available with dynamic IP. Hub is made by Hitron.

VM Residential & VM Business are two separate companies with separate customer services systems. This forum is for VM Residential customers, so it is unlikely the Staff team here will be able to look into this.

It wasnt like theyd pay attention anyway, im also doing this so others know how theyre ripping people off and charging basically 5x their contract amount.

  • I did very much doubt the amount given it is so low but in fairness Voom 200 is indeed going for £14.50/month for six months at the moment https://www.virginmediabusiness.co.uk/connectivity/internet-access/business-broadband/voom-200/

However they then, Ryanair style, show you a raft of extras (all appropriately unticked by default) during the order such as extra IP addresses, faster support SLA, antivirus, phone line, 4g backup etc which, if all are accepted, add another £42/month. On top of all of that you also pay VAT of course as it's a business service.

Could this be how it happened?

Too late for the 14 day cooling off period now unfortunately .

You very much doubt? I literally have Virgin medias complain case reference which ill be attaching now, which was sent nearly last month, so they had PLENTY of time to correct their error

I am honestly so fed up, im exhausted, i have so many things going on on my life to even care about this, but no they ignore me, all i want is help, which they are refusing to give me.
