Ethernet disabled?

Hi

I’m a new customer and I’ve been trying for the past few days to get my Tado heating system to work via the Ethernet ports at the back of my Hub 5.

It appears they aren’t working (they do not emit a green glow when I plug the cable in and obviously I do not get internet connection to my heating system)

Do I need to do something to enable them? I don’t want to be stuck with fiber broadband if I can’t heat my house in winter! If it’s something that’s an ongoing issue I’d rather cancel within my 14 days and go back to crappy Sky copper broadband.

Is your Tado a 10/100 network device?  Seems some older NIC’s don’t work with the Hub 5? Try a different device to check, one  that has a 1Gb NIC.
The Hub is just plug and play btw, nothing to configure to get the ports working.

    Hi akbarhim

The ethernet ports on the hub 5 don't light up.

Have you reset the Tado system since you switched from sky to VM?

You don't say which tado system you have however there's plenty of support on the tado website.  I've included two links below although they may relate to your system

The Tado is only 10M, it will not work with the Hub5 as the Hub is only 100/1000M. The only way to get it to work is to buy a cheap 10/100/1000 5 port network switch. From memory they should only be about £15. I have a Tado and have spooked to their ‘technical’ help people, they did confirm it’s only 10M and said it must be plugged directly into your router. Completely untrue, mine is working from one of my network switches.

Or why not get a better router with 1Gb ports and use hub in modem mode

"Or why not get a better router with 1Gb ports and use hub in modem mode" if the op ok with the rest of their network, it’s a lot, lot, cheaper the get a switch.
