Can I get a Hub 5?

I am on the 125Mb broadband service and if memory serves me rightly, a couple of years ago, VM offered me a Hub 5. For some reason, I missed the deadline and missed the offer.

Since then, I have renewed my contract a couple of times and asked for a Hub 5 but VM are refusing it unless I take up the 1Gb broadband. I told them that I was offered it a while back without the need to upgrade the service but they are denying that would ever have happened.

Currently on a Hub 4 and I'm told the Hub 5 offers up Wifi 6 and has better spread/coverage so I don't need to get a separate router or mesh.

Anyone had any luck getting a Hub 5 on the 125Mb service? Any advise?

Thx in advance

  • Hi balsingh,

Thanks for taking the time to contact us via the Community. It's lovely having you on board with us in the Forums. ⭐

We're sorry to hear you previously missed out on the offer of switching to a Hub 5. If you've missed the deadline, I'm afraid the offer would no longer be valid. We only offer a switch if your hub is faulty, in this case it would be swapped on a like for like basis.

As you currently have a Hub 4, this is compatible with the 1GB connection so upgrading may not result in a new hub either.

Keep an eye on your emails though as you may get a new offer in future.

    Many thanks,

Definitely possible. Either by a promotion, or at contract renewal re-negotiation stage. Explain that you don't get WIFI 6 AX speeds and other ISPs are offering better routers. Outside of this, simply requesting one will just be met with "its for GIG1 customers".

New customers taking M350 or above get a HUB5 and have done for some time unless a specific stock level issue. For a while, customers taking M250 also got them but not sure if they still do.

At some point VM will have to move customers onto HUB4 or HUB5's anyway as the HUB3 becomes end of life and no more security patches for its firmware.

You have a hub 4 its not like your in dire need for a hub 5 and VM may not give you a hub 5 if you go 1Gb.

If you was on a super hub 2 then a hub 5 would be a good jump.

The wifi on the hub 4 by VM thinking only needs to give you 30Mb in the same room.

VM hate wifi and they wish they never had to do it so if you want better wifi you can look at better 3rd party routers with 1Gb ports with wifi 6 put hub in modem mode.
