Brown external box broken

How do I get the cables from my external brown box altered? I have just left Virgin media after 20+ years as the price increase was untenable and so the black cables from the brown external box are now unused. I realise that I cannot totally remove the brown box ( as it's said on a previous question here) due to if I ever sell my house. However I would like to be able to get rid of the  black cables which are around my window frame. I want to know if these can just be cut and rolled back into the brown box?
I contacted VM on Monday and eventually was informed that someone would be in touch in a couple of days and come and do it, however I've had no contact, via either email or text so would be grateful if I can get answers this way. I don't want to do any damage to the equipment.

  • Can I also say that the brown box is damaged and the lid doesn't easily fit back on so lots of cobwebs looks awful

  • Hi penwario

    Welcome to the Community Forums.

Sorry to hear that you've since left us, as the team couldn't find a suitable renewal price for you.

We wouldn't remove the cabling going to or from the external brown Omni box. This would remain in place even after a customer decides to leave us, and it is not something that we would remove when a customer leaves us.

Is the reason you want the cabling removed for construction work, or is it more for the aesthetics?

H Carly,  I think I mentioned that I knew cables can’t be removed. I just need them to be rolled up into the box which means that the end going into my house needs to come out and be rolled up into the box and the broken box mended.  I didn’t want to do this as I am unsure what is in the cables - ie electrical etc it is not just aesthetics but the cable dangles dangerously across my front door at the top and hangs around the window frame. Where the box had to be positioned meant that the lead had to go up that way instead of across the front step. Thanks Penny
