Broken external box

This is the current state of my external box. Come home from work to this! How do I go about getting a cover back over it? I’m not a virgin customer however don’t like the look of words showing and it not nice to look at. Anyone help?

  • I’m not a virgin customer however I’ve come home today and my notice my brown external box cover as been removed and the wires are exposed. I also have a 4 year old and don’t want her near them. How can I get this resolved?

    If you are not a customer, and there is not even a cable going into the box, it would be surprising if VM comes to replace it.

    It looks like a new build property. Are the builders still on site? I believe it is the developer who fits out the homes as they are built. They may have some if they are still building.

    Alternatively, just find your own box. VM boxes are available online. You could swap the large fibre box in brown for something smaller and in grey to match the Openreach box.

    Check what is wrapped around the inside of the existing box. Looks like a cable maybe and check that the existing box does not cover a huge hole behind if you decide to swap the box.

  • I’ve tried contacting virgin via telephone but no joy in speaking to a human. All I want to find out is if Virgin will repair that brown external box that is broken at the front of my house or if I’ve got to sort it myself . Unfortunately I am not a virgin customer. Just a yes or no answer would be helpful or to actually speak to someone instead of a BOT.

      That box just looks like the house builder has left the connection available for VM to use when someone signs up.  There is no cable/fibre coming up from the ground pipe.  I don’t think it’s broken.  If you were a customer the other piece of the box would be placed along with the cable connections by VM.

      I would suggest not multi-posting your issue as it may confuse any responses. It appears your posts may now have been merged into this topic.

      You should get a VM reply on here eventually. It can take several days from your first post. VM's general reply to this query for non-customers is a 'no' unless a H&S problem exists. However, VM is consistently inconsistent in a lot of its responses so you will have to wait for a VM person to reply and see if the VM wheel of random outcomes spins in your favour or not.

      My own approach is generally to avoid the hassle of trying to get large corporations to try to do simple tasks like this given how difficult it is to contact them and get them to respond. I think I would have just ordered some sort of replacement box by now on a next day delivery and would have swapped it myself.
