Availability

Hi

We have had FTTP for over a year and installed by BT Openreach. Currently with another broadband provider at 1gbps but would like to switch to virgin. Is their a reason it's saying virgin not available in our area??

Virginmedia doesn't cover the whole country, they only install where it's profitable to do so. You could try calling their sales office to see if they have any plans for your area. 0800 183 1234

It might be saying it's not avalible in your area as it might not be avalible in your area

  • They use their own infrastucture, even for FTTP.

So, even if you are in an Openreach area it doesn't mean VM is also available.

    Check this site:

The areas currently covered by Virgin’s existing cable franchises & NexFibre FTTP can be seen here:

The network is expanding, but VM only use Openreach for leased line Business connections, not Residential services.

Thinkbroadband's maps have an issue for some months now. They seem to show any FTTP provider in an area and not the specific one you pick. Using your link, it shows VM/nexfibre in areas that are 100% not serviced by them. Seems to be BT FTTP it shows, and the same issue if you picked Netomnia or City Fibre too.

If we had FTTP from BT switching to VM would not be considered.

VM's major problem is the Customer Service was poor, now it is almost non-existent.

We have VM RFoG because BT still do not offer FTTP or FTTC in our street.

    On our wavelength

Why would anyone want to move to Virginmedia if they can choose from 10 different FTTP providers?
