I am also experiencing consistent drop outs every day on my 2GB symmetrical connection.
Specifically, these drop outs occur at 02:47 and 14:47.

As I work from home every day, this issue is quite disruptive.

I would be very appreciative if these tests could also be completely disabled on my account.

I had the exact same issue and sadly still dealing with the automated packet loss and latency spikes to this day - just hourly instead of every 30 minutes.

It WAS reduced for me from 48 tests per day to 1 by a helpful forum moderator back in July but then in October 23rd 2025 10:23pm it returned every hour. I am currently battling to get this turned off again but I am being told I should only have 1 automated test per day but I'm not sure I believe it.

It's so consistent and in parallel with my previous 30 min drop out except it's now hourly. I have been sent a technician who say the cabling is dirty but after being cleaned there's no change. Was told the next step is to get given a new router.

I very much believe some kind of automated hourly testing is still happening.

The 4pm drop out was the technician cleaning and replacing cabling but you can see it has no effect.

The work around is to have a muted stream twitch at highest res running in the backgroundand for some reason the automated test doesn't happen whilst that's occurring as you're streaming and I assume they don't want to interrupt your stream - so if you're being disconnected from games that obviously transfer up/down much less data... that's the work around.

Still awful to have to remember to do that every evening.

Back to the OP's complaint: I recall at least one case where VM belatedly switched off the relentless speed testing which was messing up his connection.

A VM user can't switch to giffgaff as that's on nexfibre. These networks don't overlap.

Via our RFoG connection, we do not notice VM's speed tests, of course our usage may differ as we do not have children or grand-children playing games 24/7.

The most recent VM speed test email report says: 
101 test were performed over the last 3 months,  that is less than 8 tests per week.

Are you still within your 14 day cooling off period? If so look into cancelling and switching to giffgaff broadband which AFAIK uses the same Nexfibre backbone and doesn't do the annoying metronomic speed testing (although I am interested to hear from any giffgaff broadband customers on the latter point. Giffgaff is also sadly limited to 900 Mbps currently-albeit symmetrical ).

Nope it's basically useless for any online game as soon as it starts its test on my line disconnect , massive in game spikes. And as I am on 2gb symmetrical it's not something myself or anyone should have to deal with.

2gb is to do with large files too and from work  - not just for gaming.
