Daughter"s first phone and plan

I'm buying my daughter her first phone and plan. Since my plan is with Virgin, I wanted to do it here through my account as well.  She has a used phone that we bought before hand elsewhere so we just need to buy a plan ... does she get issued a phone number with the plan's online purchase or how does that work?

  • Hi Colin64

Welcome to our forums, and thank you for your post. We are glad to see that you are interested in getting your daughter her first phone. As it stands, Virgin Media and O2 have merged. For this reason, all mobile plans are currently with O2 (unless you have a mobile loan agreement). You can find a new deal with our O2 team, as seen here. Please let us know if you need any further help.

    Thanks,

You'll be subscribing to a SIM-only deal (consider using a comparison website like Uswitch, Compare the Market, or MoneySuperMarket to compare offers) or PAYG. With SIM-only you'll be entilted to a Volt deal. With the SIM you get the phone number.

I had SIM-only for a long time until I reviewed my usage (which was very low as I make use of WiFi mostly), so a switch to PAYG made sense. It may be worth trying PAYG first and if you later switch to SIM-only you may be able to move the phone number over (I did it in the opposite direction by calling O2).

  • Oops guys, wondering if this applies to me cause I'm in Canada! :)
