"Welcome to your latest broadband stats" email

I received an email today from VM entitled "Welcome to your latest broadband stats".  I've never received it before, so perhaps it's a new initiative.

Anyway it's simply a load of marketing propaganda from Virgin Media, boasting about what a fast internet connection they provide for me.

I am opted out of marketing communications and am not remotely interested in receiving this spam.

When I replied to the email I received the now traditional response from big corporations - "we don't monitor this inbox".  In other words, we want to send email, but not receive it.  I feel the same way.

How do I opt out of these emails?

  • P.S.  I just wasted half an hour of my life chatting online to one of VM's hilariously useless "agents".  He kept telling me I should forward it to VM's phishing department. Where do they find these people?

      Hi DunkirkPie

I'm sorry to hear you've been receiving these broadband stats emails from us despite being opted out from marketing. I can look at unsubscribing you from these.

      I've dropped you a PM.

Haven't seen one of these mentioned on here for a while. VM's previous attempts at this used to be hilariously bad and VM would frequently send out messages reporting wildly improbable data or, alternatively, just send customers the blank template with no data included at all!

I would guess VM will claim this is vital 'account information' rather than 'marketing'.

I had one of the emails, the info looks like the averaged results of repeated Samknows Realspeed tests against the Hub. Folks with Modem mode Hubs might be spared this.
