Virgin Media O2 Account/Virgin Media Account Linking

I am a new Virgin Media customer and I'm having problems linking my Virgin O2 account with my Virgin account which seems to be the same for a lot of people. I'm using the correct email address copied directly from my contract email from you. 

I'm getting the error "We've found your Virgin Media account. However, this account is linked to an email address that's different to the one on your Virgin Media O2 ID."

Please can you help?

  • I’m having the same issue as a new customer and have one attempt remaining. What is the solution does anyone know?

      Don't worry too much, I've all attempts used, it'll reset the next day. That being said, I responded in someone else's message as it feels a waste of time creating the nine hundredth post saying the same thing. Someone contacted me and when I responded I received an "unsolicited message" warning! 

      I had to quickly check what I had sent. 

      Nothing shady it turns out, they just want everyone with the same issue to create a separate post. I know, right.

    Sorry to hear you're having issues with registering your online account. 

    Have you been a customer of Virgin Media previously at the same address at all?

      I have not, this is the first time I've signed up for Virgin Media and to be honest I'm having second thoughts. As my switch hasn't happened yet I'm tempted to stay with Sky.

  • I'm attempting to be a new customer, signing up yesterday. and am encountering this. What I'm meant to do? I am a giffgaff customer (loosely linked to O2). I had, decades ago, some dealings with VirginMedia / NTL. I can't see how those old emails are involved and I don' think this is my problem. I really need a telephone number support person with someone who knows how to remedy this.

    It says:

    > If you'd like to continue and link your Virgin Media account to your Virgin Media O2 ID, please confirm the full email address your Virgin Media account is currently registered to.

    The name "Virgin Media O2 ID" means nothing to me.

      My understanding is, that even though I am a new customer, I have to set up a legacy account first and then migrate from it. Very poor.
