Urgent: Suspected Fraudulent O2 ID Creation

Dear O2 Customer Service,

 

I am writing to report a suspected fraudulent activity involving my personal information. On 12 September, I received a suspicious phone call from someone claiming to be from O2. After the call, I discovered that a Virgin Media O2 ID was created under my email address without my authorisation. (Team member please DM me for the email address)

 

I am concerned that my account may have been compromised or used for fraudulent purposes.

Could you please:

 

  1. Check whether there has been any unusual activity on any O2 or Virgin Media O2 accounts associated with my email address.
  2. Cancel or delete the Virgin Media O2 ID that was created without my consent.

 

 

Please confirm once the ID has been cancelled and advise if there are any additional steps I should take to secure my personal information.

  • Hi Virgin Media Community Team,

    The same as above has happened to me with a user repeatedly attempting to access my account. I raised this with a member of the team a few months ago and was told I’d receive a call back from a point of escalation. I never received this and this morning another number of attempts was made from the hacker to access my account.

    Please can you contact me regarding the deletion of my account? Thank you.

      To ensure I provide you with the most accurate information and guide you effectively, could you please confirm if the account you wish to delete is a Virgin Media O2 ID?

      Also, have you been able to access your account at all, or is it still compromised?

        Hi Arissa,

        Thank you for the prompt response and kind welcome! That’s correct I’d like to delete my Virgin Media O2 ID. I don’t recall ever creating it until the hacker begun attempting to access my account. Thankfully I’m still able to access my account and have secured it multiple times but the hacker has continued to try over the last month or so.
