Upgrading to UHD

I have a 360 box and a Gig1 connection.

I can do this directly through my Netflix account (charged through Virgin), but I can't see how to upgrade Sky Cinema.

Can I upgrade both directly through the Virgin account, and how much would it be? I think Netflix is another £7.
Also, if I upgrade my Virgin account to UHD, what other channels are included in UHD.

Thanks.

  • Hi pete37593 thanks for your post here in the Community, welcome!

There are lots of different packages available that incorporate Sky Cinema, it might not be the most cost-effective option to simply add Sky Cinema - it may be a better deal to upgrade your TV package as a whole to include Sky Cinema and Netflix in your actual bundle.

We'd advise in this case to reach out to us and we can help you with this and discuss the most suitable deal - our best avenues of contact our to call us on 150 / 0345 454 1111 or WhatsApp messenger on +44730 532 7112.

    We hope this helps.

    Many thanks

Thanks, I already have Sky cinema and Netflix billed through Virgin..I'm wondering how to upgrade to UHD.
Netflix is fairly straight forward as I can just upgrade by logging on to my Netflix account, but I can't work out how to upgrade to UHD on Sky Cinema, and to find the price and any other channels, if any, that would be upgraded.

    Hi pete37593

You can add the normal Sky Cinema channels, but if you also want the Sky Movies in UHD then you also need the Sky Cinema and Sky Entertainment UHD add on which is an additional £6 a month for customers with Mega TV packages (Bigger Combo/Biggest Combo/Mega Volt), Maxit TV packages (Fullhouse/ Bigger Bundle/ Ultimate Oomph/ Ultimate Volt)

You won't receive the actual Sky Cinema channels in UHD, instead there is large selection of Sky UHD movies (currently 488) available via On Demand, along with a number of normal Sky programs/box sets in UHD (currently 119).

The Virgin Ultra HD channel  on 175 and 999 is free to all customers with a compatable box (V6, TV360  and Stream boxes)

There are 4 Sky Sports UHD channels, which are Sky Sports Main Event UHD, Sky Sports Darts UHD (this is a temporary channel and will revert back to Sky Sports F1 UHD sometime around 19th January) along with Sky Sports UHD 1 and 2 which provide additional UHD content when available.  You do need to have a Sky Sports HD subscription before being to add the Sky Sports UHD channels which are either an extra £6 or £7 a month.

You may be able to get a discount if adding both Both Sky Sports UHD and Sky Cinema and Sky Entertainment UHD

You can also take out a subscription to TNT Sports which contains all 4 TNT Sports channels, including TNT Sports Ultimate.

I had a look at channel 119, which is, on my box ITV BE and channel 488 just took me to the next available channel.

To clarify, the content on the Sky cinema channels 401-412 do not support UHD, but only on demand, is on demand just vfor paid content?
I have no interest in receiving the sports channels.

        Hi again pete37593

The Sky Cinema channels on 401-412 are only available in HD.  If you want to watch any Sky Movies in UHD then you need to pay the additional £7 a month on top of the Sky Movies subscription and then you will be able to  watch  the UHD movies which are available via the Sky Movies UHD On Demand section.

The 488 I referred to is not a channel number, it's the actual number of Sky Movies in  UHD currently available in that On Demand section.

Again the 199 I referred to is not a channel, I was telling you the current total of Sky programs/box sets in UHD via On Demand is currently 119.
