Terminate my internet service contract

This serves as a formal request to terminate my internet service contract under account number 422835204 with immediate effect, as my visa has expired as of February 28, 2025

I initially contacted your customer service department before leaving the country via phone on  to request termination. However, I was informed by your representative that my account is currently bound by an 18-month contract due to expire in January 2026. I dispute this claim and believe this represents a misunderstanding, or potentially a fraudulent misrepresentation of my original agreement.

My understanding, and to the best of my knowledge, my service was initiated in November 2023 and should therefore be concluding in May 2025, based on a standard 18-month contract.

Furthermore, I would like to bring to your attention that I officially changed my service location on July 2024 and continued to make payments for services rendered at the new address. This action implies a continuation of the existing agreement and does not, in any way, authorize the implementation of a new, extended contract.

To reiterate, I believe the extension of my contract was applied unilaterally and potentially fraudulently. I did not agree to any changes to my original contract terms and require evidence of my consent to the alleged extension until January 2026.

At present I had been leaving the country and can no longer utilize your service

You have the same problem reported by others on here, when VM has started a new contract instead of transferring the old one to the new address. This is wrong and something you need to address in a formal written complaint.

  • Hi praniroshan,

Thanks for your post and welcome to our community.

I'm sorry to hear there is a contract dispute.

I'd be happy to look into this for you.

I'll send you a private message now.

Please look out for the envelope in the top right of the page and pop back to me when you can.

Telecoms service provision contracts in the UK are not fixed-term ones that naturally end on a particular date, the logical extension of that is that your service automatically cancels on that date - regardless. Imagine the complaints if that were true.

What you have is a rolling contract with 30days notice at any time, but a minimum term of 18months. A different beast. Continued use of VM's services beyond the statutory 14days cooling-off period constitutes acceptance of their published T&Cs.

Those same T&Cs set out how 30days notice can be given - formal letter or phone primarily. Certainly not by a post on this forum.

The minimum-term date not being corrected with a home move & transfer is an admin issue, usually easily corrected by the forum team.
