Renewel Contract Date Confusion

My contract ends 28th October.  When i log into my account and view my renewel options, if i take up an offer will a new contract start on the day i renewed ie. today or tomorrow, or will it be from 29th October as that is the day after my current contract ends?

If from the day i clicked renew, what will happen to my final bill covering the period to 28th October?
