Re: Cancelled VM broadband - all paid and late payment on credit score

Randomly I happen to check my score this morning and a normally perfect score has a good 100+ chunk taken out of it. The summary detail says I've a missed payment. Never in my life have I missed a payment. I have however left VM in the last 4-6 weeks and had a vague memory of similar issues being mentioned by people. Credit report is ordered from experion, not sure of any quicker way to verify the culprit although I suspect we all know. Anybody aware of a quicker way? Absolute scam artists, a nice thanks for the 5+ years of custom...

Every lender uses their own internal scoring although there's a couple of firms make marketing money out of selling a largely-meaningless "credit score".

It's the entries on your free statutory file that matter. If anythings awry on there, that is cause to investigate further.

Oh I don't really care about the score, it's the "missed payment" entry on the file that's the issue. The score is just a consequence of the entry

  • I suspect I'm having the same issue. Just randomly checked credit score this morning and there a nice 100+ chunk taken out of it. Summary info says there's a missed payment. I've never missed any payment on anything, ever. I have however ceased a VM contract and moved to alternative provider in the last month. This was all done via their channels, no DD cancelled, confirmation of kit received from during the week. Now, I'm not able to see detail of this "missed payment" yet, credit report is ordered from experion but I'm fairly positive I know who the culprit is. Fairly livid right now!

  • Hi BillRawles,

Thanks for taking the time to contact us via the Community. It's lovely having you on board with us in the Forums.

We're sorry to hear there is a late payment on your credit file that you were previously unaware of. There should be a section relating to your Virgin Media on your credit report and it will show if the late payment notice is from us.

If it is, the quickest way to get this looked at is to raise a dispute directly with the credit referencing agency. They will send the information to us and we will take a look at this, correct anything that needs correcting and we then send the updates directly back.

If you would prefer to raise this directly with us then in order for us to investigate this and look at things, we would need a bit more information from you. Please send a copy of your credit file to us along with the following information:

    • ➡ Virgin Media account number
    • ➡ Full name
    • ➡ Contact number
    • ➡ Account address
    • ➡ The company that you used to view your credit file
    • ➡ Any specific details related to the credit file enquiry.

Once the team have this information, they will investigate and action any amendments within the next 14 days of receiving your email. You can send this to the following email address: creditfileamendments@virginmedia.co.uk.

Keep us posted on how things go.

    Thanks,

I have just signed up to Clearscore and this shows the issue is Virgin Media so no need to wait for my file from Experion. So I will not be chasing multiple credit report agencies I will leave that to you guys as it's an error with your systems and quite frankly is a significant flaw in your practices. I have sent the email to your creditfileamendments team (the very existence of which rings alarm bells!) providing proof of the credit file entry, the direct debit payment from my bank account and the VM bill which has a nice green "Paid" note in the top corner.
