Out of contract- move to broadband only?

I’m out of contract now. I’m looking at renewal but when I look at the packages they cost more than keeping the package I’m on and staying out of contract.

I don’t have a landline anymore and I very rarely use the tv. The new 360 box looks like it’s going to be geared more at streaming. I really don’t see the point of having the tv services anymore. I’ve got a now tv stick so I can get all the free channels easily and access to sky channels.

how does it work these days if I get a broadband only contract? Is it one of these weird situations where it’s actually cheaper to get a bundle? I cant see any prices quoted for broadband only.

thanks, linda

Yes, VM will still do all it can to sell you a bundle of stuff that you don't need/want.

Arm yourself with competitor prices for broadband only before you try to renew with VM. Benchmark any offer from VM against those.

Be aware that VM now seems to be renewing with 24 month minimum terms.

You may well have to cancel, and be prepared to actually leave, if/when VM fails to give you an acceptable price for broadband only

Already mentioned that VM operate bundle discounting, and I wouldn't be at all surprised if you can source broadband-only cheaper elsewhere.

You mention not having a landline - consider whether having a landline in your package deal may well make it cheaper overall. No-one's going to force you to use it, but do the maths on whether a "with" bundle is cheaper than a "without" one - it may also be useful if you ever have problems with your mobile and would otherwise be incommunicado.

Otherwise have your facts & figures ready when you call VM.

  • Hi maccyd101 / Linda. Great username, now I want a McDonalds haha.

Thanks for posting and welcome to the community :)

Please either call the team, 150 / 0345 454 1111 option 4 and 4, or message via Whatsapp on +44780 308 9684 (automated at the start).

Advise the agent you speak too, you're looking for Broadband only, they'll check prices and also for the current services, as it maybe cheaper with discounts to keep them :)
