Out of contract - downgrade package?

Hi,

I've been with virginmedia for many many years, and currently out of contract on M350 Fibre Broadband with homephone. Change of circumstances mean that the current package is not required anymore and we don't need speed/ 24h repair priority as 1) we do not work from home anymore 2) our WIFI mesh system is limited wrt to speed 3) unplugged the landline (as we don't need it).

I'm currently paying £79.69/month and would like to downgrade to broadband only M250 (offers from £28.99 Increasing to £32.49 a month from April 2025 then £35.99 a month from April 2026 bill).

There is no option to do so in my online account; Is there a way to reduce my bill and broadband speed without having to call?

Thank you Monika

    Hi Monika,

The  broadband only M250 (offers from £28.99 Increasing to £32.49 a month from April 2025 then £35.99 a month from April 2026 bill) is new customer pricing which you won't be eligible for.

You should contact the retentions team (thinking of leaving) and negotiate a new deal. They have better offers than the front line agents.  Although you might speak to a first line agent to begin with tell them you are wanting to speak to cancellations and they should then pass you through to the actual retentions agent.

Calling in is still the best method, 150 from a VM landline or 0345 454 1111  and select options 1,4 and 4 which will put you through to retentions

You could also try the live messenger chat via  https://www.virginmedia.com/help/leaving

You can also try  the whatsapp chat number 0780 3089 684

Or you can contact VM on Social Media by either messaging

  • Hey Merm07, thank you for reaching out and I am sorry to hear you are having some renewal issues.

As mentioned the above would be for a new customer only.

    Have you tried looking here
