Online contract renewal offer

My current contract is coming to an end soon.  I've had an online renewal offer for my current package.  It's for an 18 month contract.

The amount doesn't seem too unreasonable, (apart from the figure quoted for December 2026 !).

However, I still want to reduce my package, i.e. I want to switch from 'anytime chatter' to 'evening/weekend chatter' on my landline phone, and I want a smaller TV package.

There are plenty of options to upgrade, which I don't want, but none to 'downgrade' (for want of a better word).  Does anyone know how to access the options I want ?

I've used the Virgin 'live chat' line, the 'whatsapp' service and I've also phoned and spoke to someone.  None of them could offer me an package that I was happy with......they were all dearer than the online renewal offer.....and they were all for 24 month contracts.

Can anyone advise how I can get the options I need ?   Should I accept the online renewal offer and then see if I can change the package afterwards ?

Thanks.

  • Hi cadoc 👋.

Thanks for reaching out to us, sorry to hear you are having issues with your package. We do advise that when you are wanting a package that is tailored for your needs that you speak to our retentions department, or we can have a look via here. In some cases a downgrade can make the package cheaper in price but also increase the price due to lesser discounts available.

Please also consider the timescale that you are trying to do this in, are you within the 30 days of when your contract is coming to an end where your discounts are unlocked for you to use.

    Our retentions team 👉 0345 454 1111, options 1, 4, & 4 (thinking of leaving us).

Please let us know if you wish to have a private conversation with us.

Thanks for the reply.  Yes I'm within the 30 days of my contract expiry.  I would appreciate a private chat.

......although, if I'm going to have to call the retentions number, aren't they the same people I've already discussed this issue with yesterday ?  If so, they couldn't help me.
