No Internet for over 2 weeks!! Barry VOG, S.Wales

Anyone else been without broadband and tv for over 2.5 weeks.  It's becoming a joke now.  Every time I ring call centre they just give me the service status information.

The repair date gets put back a couple of days with no further information.

I am without internet, I can't work from home, the heating and water thermostat, Sonos works from the internet.  I need internet to upload information from my Diabetic Pump to online.

Also if I had Telecare with a. vulnerable adult in the house we would be exposed and at significant risk. I have been in touch with Virgin and they have offered compensation but this doesn't help in terms of planning.

Thanks in Advance

Unfortunately the companies selling internet-connected devices don't want to advise you broadband connections can and do fail. No internet connection is guaranteed, and it's a risk you have to take if you use them.

Before you accept any compensation offered by VM, check that it's not less than your statutory entitlement.

Some providers (such as EE) offer a package which runs alongside a 4G connection. If the main connection goes down, the 4G service comes online automatically.

VM has no such equivalent but it is possible to create your own equivalent setup with your own networking equipment if a failover connection is essential for you.

  • Hi Boochie

Thanks for posting and welcome to the community. Very sorry to hear of the Broadband issues.

I'll send you a PM now to assist further.

  • VM very poor service, left a message asking for account details,   I provided 20 mins later as I don't plan on sitting on the computer all day (using phone as a tethering network connection)  and then sent me another message expecting me to reply with a deadline before 8.40 when there are other other things to do at home.

It's VM fault that internet has been off for 2 weeks. with not one email to notify us of the disconnection and then reconnection.  I guess if its in writing then we have proof they have broken contract

Unfortunately for you or anyone in the same position they haven't broken any contract because there is no service level agreement. There is nothing in your contract saying how soon they must fix a fault. You just get compensation for loss of the connection.
