Next speed tier for £3.

I got a text to my phone offering me an upgrade to the next speed tier for £3

Couldn't seem to do it on the phone, so spent 40 mins on live chat for the person to tell me its not available to me and it would cost me £106 to upgrade.

Has anyone else received this?

Is this a valid Virgin text, if so why am I getting it?

  • I typed the link in manually and the offer presented properly to me.

Keep in mind these text offers are designed to encourage impulse upgrades. Do ask yourself the last time you thought your downloads were consistently too slow for your day to day needs.

  • Thanks for reaching out to us toutski, and a very warm welcome to our Community Forums!

Sorry to hear that obtaining the £3.00 upgrade appeared not to be possible.

Did our team advise why this wasn't available to you at all?

What happens when you click the "speed-ahead" link within the SMS message?

    Thanks

  • Thank you David.

When I click the link the only thing I seem able to do is add WiFi Max for £0 a month.

When I browse to the web and try to upgrade my account, the next tier is £4 + £35 fee.

The team just said it wasn't available to me.

    Not to worry. Thanks anyway.

Thanks for coming back to us and sorry to hear that this upgrade doesn't appear to be available to you, despite the text message.

Do feel free to come back to us if anything further is required.

      Thanks

Virginmedia have many ways of teasing customers into paying for upgrades they don't need. Just ignore them.
