New subscriber cannot complete SSO reg and link

I was an existing o2 customer with a virginmedia o2 account signed up for a virgin media contract. However when I try to link the two it does not pick up my virgin media account details. It says account cannot be found... I have used the same email as my virginmedia o2 account to sign up to the broadband contract i have got the account number and area.. it jst doesn't like it

    Sorry to hear you're having issues linking your online account. We are working externally and within the Community to find troubleshooting steps which help customers through this process.

    Are you able to try the steps here, where we've seen customers using this workaround have been able to link their Virgin Media O2 ID?

    Let us know how you get on with these steps, and if you've any further concerns, please let us know.

      Hi, thanks for your reply. I have tried that but although I was able to briefly create the account and select billing option once I went back to logging in with my Virgin Media O2 account I tried to link it again and it said the account details were not found. I know this isn't true because it did infact let me register as per the 'Bing' so I know that the account details are live on the system.

        When you register for a Virgin Media O2 ID, we’ll automatically link your accounts if your sign in email address matches. If you signed up for your Virgin Media O2 ID with an email address different to the one you used for My Virgin Media or My O2, we’ll ask for the details of your Virgin Media and O2 accounts and link them to your ID.

         

        If you skipped this step during registration, follow these steps:

         

        • Sign in with your Virgin Media O2 ID
        • Go to Account settings, and then ID settings
        • Tap Manage your products
        • Navigate down and choose either Link your Virgin Media account or Link your O2 account

         

        Follow the on-screen instructions
