This thread started in 2022. Move forward to Jan 2024 and it's still happening. Yes, I was issued with a new contract too. I thought it was strange so today I googled and ended up here. Yes, no change in my package, new home, new contract etc..
I doubt this is a mistake on VMs part, more a conscious act to extend your contract for another term, 18 months in my case.
But please do remember poor old VM need the money. They just posted a £3.3 profit loss so they need as many subscribers as possible for as long as possible.
How to solve the issue. Call VM and explain that they issued a new contract when you moved home and you didn't change your package. You will probably require your old account number and the old expiry date of that contract.
The nice young Indian gentleman who took my call tried to explain that if my expiry date goes back to June 2024 (as it was on my previous contract) then the discounted price you're on now may not apply. I explained I was always aware of this and if I could not get the price I wanted, I could change suppliers at that time instead of June 2025.
Anyway, long story short, everything is OK now and I am back on my old expiry date.
If it happened to you recently, it's worth a phone call.
