Informing Virgin Media of Power of Attorney

I have tried communicating with Virgin Media by phone and online chat to talk about being my mum's Power of Attorney and how do I get added to my mum's Virgin account. I have been met with a brick wall and customer services have been absolutely useless. I have a valid UK Government V code for Virgin Media which Virgin can access online to prove I am who I am and thus saving me from sending in the post documentation. Is there any UK telephone number I can use please to speak to a UK staff member who is familiar with Power of Attorney protocol and can help me? The online V code is valid until 6th November so all any Virgin Media staff member has to do is log onto www.gov.uk/view-lpa but no one is willing to do so. Thanks.

    Hi Hawk190470

I've moved your post from the chatter forum to the accounts forum as staff don't end to frequent the chatter forums.

A member of the Forum Team may be able to pick this up for you to action electronically, it may take a day or two.

I hope the following is useful to yourself.

The info below is from forum member @pennina 's post <<< here >>>

You can complete this via an online process described on the /accessibility page, except:

You cannot use this online service if the LPA was registered before 1 September 2019. You’ll need to show the paper LPA to people or organisations instead.

You need to create a LPA Account here:
    https://www.gov.uk/use-lasting-power-of-attorney

After your account is created, for future reference you can login here:
    https://use-lasting-power-of-attorney.service.gov.uk/login

Then add the LPA Reference number to the account and your 'Activation Key'.
If the LPA was registered on or after 17 July 2020, your activation key is in the letter you got telling you the LPA had been registered.
If the LPA was registered between 1 September 2019 and 16 July 2020, referencing the LPA reference number you need to request an 'activation key'.
My LPA was registered in February 2020, so I had to request an 'activation key' which was sent through the post.

After receiving this letter you are then able to register the LPA on your account. You can then "Give an organisation access".

In your LPA account create access for Virginmedia. This code will be displayed in the form of 13 characters beginning with V. e.g. V-AB12-CD34-EF56 and will be valid for 30 days.

  • Hi Hawk190470

Welcome back to the community forums.

Sorry to hear you've not been supported with adding your power of attorney.

We can raise this to be added on our side for you. Please join me on private message so I can locate your account and pass account security. You can see your private messages at the top of the page, in the envelope icon or if you're using a smaller device, you can see your private messages by clicking on the Virgin Media logo at the top right and selecting 'Messages' from the drop-down.
