I receive marketing texts and emails from Virgin despite preferences being set to no for over 6 months

As mentionned I changed my preferences over 6 months ago but still get marketing texts and emails from Virgin. They are definitely from VM (I receive service notifications and contract info texts from the same sender).

Text messages says "text NO to 62147 to opt out" and at the bottom of the emails it says "You can unsubscribe from receiving future promotional emails from Virgin Media by clicking unsubscribe" - but I should not be receiving these in the first place. I used to get a lot of phone calls but they do seem to have stopped.

On Virgin emails (whether it is "The Edit" or one with promotional offers), clicking the "unsubscribe" opens a page with some of the same text on the marketing preferences section in account details, and here is says I am subscribed to VM Email Marketing, I've added a screenshot of this as well as my account to show I do not have the marketing consent ticked.

I will unsubscribe and opt out, but I am posting this because I am fed up with unsolicited marketing especially from companies that I am already a customer of AND have asked to stop sending me stuff. It just adds clutter to my text and email inboxes and makes it harder to stay on top of actual important communication.

And yes I am an O2 customer, marketing is also off there (and I do not receive anything from them).

  • Couldn't seem to post the screenshots in my first message so here they are. First one is what I see when I click "unsubscribe" on any VM marketing email, second is my account marketing preferences as it has been for over 6 months.

  • Screenshots don't seem to be posting, I tried to add to a reply but its disappeared.

      Hi Rarchy,

Thank you for your post and welcome to the community.

We're very sorry to hear you are continuing to get marketing.

Looking at the screenshots you have sent. The first one that advises "Sure you want to unsubscribe?" it does show the slider for being subscribed is on a the bottom. You would need to slide that off.
