I have forgotten my email password

Sorry if this sounds rather minor but I cannot get an answer on line

Dear Virgin Media

I have a 'My Virginmedia' password and I am using that to log in and  check my email . Until now I was using an email client.  I now want to use a different email client but I have forgotten the password for my email ( which is apparently   different from the Virginmedia password.

 Within my Virginmedia account page, on clicking on 'Edit' against my email details I am informed that I will have  to change my email address to a non Virgin one  before any editing can take place.  That is no problem but what is not clear is will this change the email address (currently a Virgin one) on the email headers that I send and if anyone emails my current Virgin address will I receive the emails because I have changed my email address with Virgin? 

Or, is the new email address that I give you purely for me to be able to access my Virgin Media account but it will not change the email address to and from the account.

Or, is there an easier way that I can find out or, simply change my email password to one that I promise never to forget

    Welcome to the Community and thanks for taking the time to post here on the forums. I’m sorry to hear of the issues that you’re having with your email account at the moment. 

     

    Or, is the new email address that I give you purely for me to be able to access my Virgin Media account but it will not change the email address to and from the account.

    The new email address would just be purely for the login

    This isn't possible, you would need to use a third party email address as your login for any Virgin Media online account or email address. 

     

    To change your email password for any third party applications, please follow the below steps:

    • Sign in to My Virgin Media
    • Go to Account settings
    • Click Virgin Media Mail Settings
    • Security and sign in details
    • Manage your Virgin Media Mail app password
    • Continue the flow and a new secure password will be generated, and the mailbox unlocked.
    • Update any third-party apps that may be use to access your Virgin Media Mail emails with this new app password.
