Going Broadband Only

I've just completed my 18 month contract term and have been, for a long time, considering going for a faster but broadband only service. Current package is TV Essentials and Phone with M250 (M350 with Volt addon), I never use my TV box and have never plugged a phone in for the 12 years being a VM customer at this property.

As an existing customer can I go broadband only? I know in the passed the only option was to leave VM and then come back....but all in all I've been a Blueyonder/Telewest/VM customer since 1997 and don't want to go through this.

You'll only find out what VM will offer your by phoning up.

VM will try and force you into taking a bundle, generally by making the standalone broadband price unattractive against the discounted bundle.

Worth noting that standalone services (e.g. broadband only) have been showing as 24 month contracts recently on the VM website. Also factor in the baked-in price rises each April.

If you want broadband only, you may well be better off going elsewhere and getting new customer pricing, even if this involves a lower speed.

Check out any Openreach availability of FTTP and alt-net offerings in your area as alternatives to VM.

If you haven't switched provider since 1997, VM might safely assume you are unlikely to move and pitch its offer accordingly!

    Hi, saintuk.
Thank you for taking the time to post on our help forums about changes to your services with us, welcome back to the community. 🙂

We're sorry to see you wish to remove the TV and landline as those have never been used, however we'd love to best advise on how you can proceed to amending your contract and services in this case.

To do this you'd need to speak with our Retentions team at 0345 454 1111 or via chat here where you can raise a request to remove Landline and TV (service disconnection) and keep Broadband only with us, so you can negotiate a BB Solus deal as we call those.

Please, bear in mind that having all 3 cable services offers greater bundle discounts therefore lower deal prices - with this in mind, a broadband only deal may or may not be much cheaper for you however our Retentions team will be able advise more on this.

Let us know how you get on and if this helps, you could also visit this link and browse packages available to you for renewing your contract and keeping all services on.
This way you'll have a better picture about what's to your benefit.
    Best regards,
