First name spelled wrong on my Account

Hi,

I recently purchased a broadband and O2 sim contract online, I realised my first name was spelled incorrectly on the contract (Anderemi instead of Aderemi)

I had to use the incorrect spelling in order to be able to create my virgin account online. I would like this error to be rectified and my contract updated.

I want to avoid using the "change of name" form since I have not changed my name and this error was seemingly made by Virgin Media's electronic system. But I would like my bill to reflect my true name. Can someone at Virgin change this for me?

Thanks

This is my details:

Hi remsonreality, thanks for reaching out on our help forums and welcome to the community.

Sorry to hear your name has been misspelled and you had to sign up with the wrong one for your online account with us.

Our change of name form is to not be used for correcting a name due to spelling errors, however we have a process and we can assist changing a letter or two.

We're happy to help with this, in order to make the corrections needed I will send you a PM here soon.

Please, check the top right-hand side of our page to find a purple envelope.

      Hi Newpool,

Thanks for taking the time to contact us via the Community. It's lovely having you on board with us in the Forums.

We're sorry to hear your first name is spelt incorrectly. This is something we can certainly check for you but in order to do that I'll need to confirm some information with you to pass security.

I've sent you a direct message to allow us to do this with you in a private space. If you're using a PC/Laptop then you can just click on the little ✉ at the top right-hand side of the page to access your inbox. If you're on a mobile/tablet device then instead, click on the little circle icon in the top right then select 'Messages'. 😊

      Thanks,

  • You people should be grateful they only misspelled your names. They got the entirely WRONG name on MY account - my wife's name - who was an account holder with them five years ago!! And as a result, I can never clear security whenever I call them. And when I tried (once again, unsuccessfully) to get this sorted for the fifth time tonight by explaining how I am the account holder even though my wife's name is on the account BECAUSE OF THEIR MISTAKE, I got told by Amy that she had to end my call because she had 130 other people waiting on hold and she didn't want to continue arguing with me.
    Disgusting service.
How are these people allowed to trade?

      Hello Veglio,

We're sorry to hear of the account issues regarding the named account holder. We understand the frustration and you taking the time to raise this via the forums. Welcome to the community.

We can see you have spoken to the team since posting, were they able to offer any further assistance with this or option going forward? Obviously don't give any details via the public section of the forum but have you been able to check the other details such as date of birth etc to see if they match yours or your wife's?

I wasn't able to do anything like that because your team member just hung up on me. She said she was unable to verify my identity and there was no point in continuing the conversation.
