First Bill error

I have been a Virgin media user for over 5 years and my current contract is expiring on 28th August. I have agreed a new package for £88.12 per month to start when my old contract ends.  I have been told that my first bill will be for £334.57 and the second bill will be a £10.33 credit, leaving a total cost of 324.24 for two month. This is an overcharge of £148. I cannot get anyone to explain to me how the proposed bill has been calculated. Can someone from Virgin please contact me.
