Early contract end due to Dementia

Hello.

My mum had early signs of dementia so i set up  virgin media broadband/ wifi in her home for a ring doorbell , internal camera , amazon alexa camera etc.

I started the contract 2 months ago in my name as she was unable to do this task due to the dementia, it's a 18 month contract.

Last week she was admitted to a local care home .

So, the virgin media is not now needed as her house has to be sold to pay for said care home.

I have contacted Virgin media from my local 02 shop and because i took out the contract in my name they will not end the contract early without me paying a £350+ fee .

I have explained the situation , telling them i also have POA for my mum but it all falls on deaf ears.

Has anyone any advice  how to sort this issue or had the same situation?.

Cheers

VM are not known for sympathy where money is concerned. The only way I can see out of this would be to move the contract to another address. Do you already have VM at your own house?
