Downgrading Package/Cancelling

Hi,

As has been written hundreds of times on here, I cant seem to downgrade my package or even cancel it.

I tried 4 times today to call (0345454111) and kept getting cut off. Once I did finally get through to a person to talk about my package, he put me on hold then the call disconnected again. 4 times out of 4 seems a bit odd to me. Forget the live chat option too, I can click it but nothing happens. Why do Virgin make it so hard to do this, surely it cant be on purpose to get you to not cancel... surely

Can a member of the virgin team help me please, my package is due for renewal soon and I want to remove some TV channels I never watch and maybe downgrade my internet speed. If this isn't possible then can I talk to somebody about cancelling the contract
