Credit on account

I paid my bill with my bank card. Then my direct debit took the same amount. Therefore I have credit on my virgin media account. How do I go about getting this refunded?

  • Hi Purleydom77,

Welcome to the community and thanks for taking the time to post here on the forums.
I’m sorry to hear that you have been charged twice for your services, a credit would be applied to your account and used to pay your next bill.

    Kind Regards,

It's more than my next bill. In fact it's had that taken off(my next bill) and I still have a large credit. I want this money sent back and not kept in virgins accounts for months. How do I do this?

        Hi Purleydom77

It will sit as a credit on the Virgin Media account balance, and for future bills any charges owed will be taken from that first before we then revert to Direct Debit again.

If you'd rather look to have that refunded back into your bank account you can request an indemnity claim from your bank if you wish. This will refund the Direct Debit payment made almost instantly. Alternatively, if you'd rather we look into and process a potential refund then please respond to the private message that I'll be sending to you shortly and we'll be able to proceed from there.

        Thanks,

  • This is unconscionable. I've had this happen to me twice -- whenever I have authorise prepayments Virgin takes more than what I own on my current bill. I now have over $200 in credits. This is ridiculous. I will be switching cell phone providers as soon as I can. I am very unhappy with the service and costs. There are other options.

      Hi eadyange,

Thanks for taking the time to contact us via the Community. It's lovely having you on board with us in the Forums. ⭐

We're sorry to hear this has happened to you too. When you have a Direct Debit set up, if you try to make a manual payment, it does advise that any Direct Debit will still come out. If 2 lots of payments have come out then the credit is put on the account and the next bill is then taken from the credit.

To avoid this happening again, we would recommend either waiting and allowing the money to come out via Direct Debit, or if you want to make a payment manually, you cancel the Direct Debit and make the payment manually each month.

      Many thanks,
