Change of box and new contract

Free exchange from a Tivo to a 360 came with a sting in the tail for me, once installed the arrival of an email showed me that this installation initiated a new 12 month contract, then it went on to say my £64 package would jump, olympic height, to over £82 per month in April '26, 6 months before I can consider leaving Virgin without penalty. If it was made more obvious about a new contract I would have kept using the Tivo

The free “upgrade” to 360 shouldn’t affect your existing contract.  Hopefully a VM Mod can assist on this one?

      Hi john113

Thanks for posting and welcome back to the community. Sorry for any confusion. Just a new TV box, would not be a new contract. I'll send you a PM as well to help.

  • Thanks for info, however due to the forecast astronomic price rise I am investigating going the Freeview route and quite possibly alternative broadband  supplier when the contract is due to end

  • I have now had a new aerial installed to receive Freeview on a Manhatten recorder, pretty basic but sufficient, the intention now is to investigate a Virgin downgrade to Broadband and Phone only come the end of contract, going this route allows me to change to any supplier offering competitive service and price, a bonus would be a UK call centre, I am tired of going cap in hand to grovel for a better deal from Virgin every year.

Well done. You will save a lot of money this way. More people should do the same.
