Can I pay half of my first bill early?

Hey everyone - I'm a new customer to virgin who joined towards the end of last month. Was told by the lady who signed me up to virgin on the phone that the first bill combines two month's worth payments together and that most people tend to pay their first bill in two - if I choose to pay half now with Virgin's payment form do I still get direct debited the double bill when my payment is due, as I did set up a direct debit on the day I signed up last month?

  • Hi LHoque,

Thanks for taking the time to contact us via the Community. It's lovely having you on board with us in the Forums. ⭐

When there is a Direct Debit set up, once the bill is generated, the amount is then scheduled to be deducted via Direct Debit. If you make a payment before the Direct Debit comes out, this won't change the amount of the Direct Debit so the full billed amount will still come out.

As long as there is at least 7 days before your Direct Debit date, then we can manually amend the amount to be taken for you.

If your first bill has not yet been generated then as long as the payment hits the account before the bill is generated, it will come off the balance and the bill will be generated with the amount you've paid taken off it. In which case, the Direct Debit amount will be lower 😊

Let us know if you have any further queries or questions.

    Many thanks,
