Reddit doesn't load half the time

Probably not the right Board for this, but none seemed to suit..

Reddit on all devices doesn't load half the time, has to be clicked 2-3x to get it to load on browser and app. Switch to mobile hotspot on EE and no issues, has been thus for so long, just really frustrating.

I've added it to allowed sites in Web Safe and still does it, am I alone in this?

Clearly, first world problems and all that, but, is frustrating when I know it works on my EE hotspot, which suggests a VM issue.

  • Right, think I've solved this myself by changing the DNS on my own router from VM to Google having seen others with the issue on Reddit itself (when I could get to it)). Frustrating that VM seem to have an issue with traffic going there, but, hey-ho..

      Dialled in

DNS is always a good place to start. Sadly, anyone with their Hub 5x is unable to change the DNS in that device so the solution there is either use your own router behind the Hub 5x, or manually assign your chosen DNS to every single device that connects to your network.

I have had this same issue for 2 years. It's only Reddit too!

I see a history of ongoing issues spanning several years with people being unable to load Reddit.com when connected to the Internet via their Virgin router. I have had the issue for 2 years but haven't complained about it till now.

Reddit loads randomly. Usually the first hit is a no, try with 3 or 4 refreshes and it loads (that page) but after a bit more page navigation the issue is back. I have it on numerous devices, phones and tablets. The issue dissappears when my laptop is tethered via my EE mobile.

There's clearly an issue here possibly with DNS or some thing else. The kinds of pages I'm visiting are completely safe.

Can anyone from Virgin Tech comment on the issue? I have an open ticket.

Hi nadimaj thanks for your post here although we're sorry to hear of your concerns raised here.

Do you know if this happens on all browsers at all for example, and is the same on all devices?

        Many thanks

All browsers. We use 4 different ones here. Issue is not present on EE using same device.
