BPO letter

Hi,

I received a letter from a debt collection company called BPO saying I owe money to Virgin media. I've never used virgin media products nor do I have an account. So I am very confused. I can't get in touch with anyone from Virgin Media. Please help.

Ask the debt collector to provide copies of the original unpaid bills.
Often they do not have these & are unable to evidence any kind of debt.

If the bills do have your name for a service not taken,
identity fraud is VM's problem for failing to verify the customer
    or accepting fake documents.

It's been a while since I looked in detail at the debt recovery laws, but there used to be a good technique involving a stiff letter to the external collector to the legal effect of "debt is denied, refer to lender" or somesuch.

The debt collector is then legally "on notice", and they can fight it out with the lender who sold them the alleged debt.

It's been a few years, so you may wish to do some research!
