well well well

check this out....

Essential Security built into your home network, at no extra cost

then...

If you want an enhanced antivirus offering, you can also choose to take our Advanced Security, which protects an unlimited number of devices for just £3 per month (first three months free) or £30 a year.

This is illegal, I'm not able to elaborate as is may comoprise the my / our future proceedings.

This was an email headlining free security, say no more, I ask..... no I'll keep that to my self for now.

  • I have no idea what your point is. There is a free tier and a premium tier. So what?

Not sure why you ask that.

The Advanced Security link in your post takes you to the screen to sign up for what VM describe as "Advanced Security, powered by F‑Secure".

The latest tvedit email shows the following text

Essential Security built into your home network, at no extra cost
Stay safe online with always-on security tools built into your home network – you don’t need to lift a finger to protect yourself and your loved ones.

Along with a link which vander18 didn't include (they've now deleted their forum account hence the thread is now by Anonymous)

The link in the email is https://www.virginmedia.com/the-edit/online-safety/virgin-media-essential-security

That page opens an article describing the virtues of the free Virgin Media Essential Security so "all Virgin Media customers with a broadband package can get Essential Security cover. It’s built into our broadband network at no extra cost"

The link provided by vander18 (https://www.f-secure.com/gb-en/virgin-media?vm-segment=virginmediaunlimited&ecid=9004 ) isn't included within the email.

It's a separate invitation towards the bottom of the tvedit article offering a paid upgrade (with a no-commitment three-month trial) to an Advanced Security package which includes premium features.  The customer isn't enrolled  into this upgrade - it's an invitation which can either be accepted or declined and doesn't affect the free "Essential Security"
