Websafe doesn’t work

Virgin Media’s Websafe isn’t working. I’ve complained to Customer Services but to not avail. On one call I was asked to visit an adult site (which I refused) to test if it wasn’t working.
Virgin dismissed my complaint after saying they tried to contact me despite not contacting me.

I believe not providing a working Websafe is u lawful and a breach of contact. Next stop will be the watchdog but I’m hoping for an answer here first.

  • Hi Richvbg,

Thanks for taking the time to contact us via the Community. It's lovely having you on board with us in the Forums. ⭐

We're sorry to hear you're having issues with websafe working. You'll need to ensure this has been enabled within My VM. You can do this by following the steps here. There's also a post from one of our Community VIP's here. Please have a look at that and pop back to us here in the Community.

    Thanks,

I’ve done this. I’ve contacted your customer services team twice about it. Still no resolution, I’m not the only one.

Thanks for coming back to us Richvbg, and we're sorry to hear that this matter is still ongoing.

Our team would seek to understand if our attempts to resolve the issue have been successful to then test if devices are able to access an 18+ site or service to determine if the diagnostics have been successful on our side.

Can you please confirm if you have been able to test this out since your most recent post?

        Thanks

Websafe works its just that you bypass it without knowing

  • Out of curiosity what adult website did Virgin Media Ltd suggest its customers visit to test whether its web filter is working?

To get you over the hurdle whilst VM fix the issue, you can manually set the DNS on the device(s) to use Cloudflare Adult and Malware filters.  Set the DNS to 1.1.1.3 and 1.0.0.3 manually.  This will bypass the VM DNS servers until the issue is fixed.

Note however it is a trivial matter to circumvent any ISP filtering, so whilst it is a good idea, most curious users will get around it.

I think we all know the OP will say "but I should no have to do this"...

I think the OP has no idea what any of what is suggested means. That's why I pay money to Virgin Media.
