Is this genuine? 0199346xxxx

Hello. I received an unexpected call from this number today, 0199346xxxx. The person said he was from Virgin Media and that I was to get a new router delivered on Friday by Royal Mail because of speed problems in my area. He asked me to go onto my laptop to check my speed but I wasn't sure he was genuine.  I asked him to wait till I checked something and then he hung up. Was I right to be suspicious?
