Close or lock old email?

Been looking for some help, I had swapped away from my old virginmedia email account when family talked about swapping too a different provider. The change never came, but have been working with my new emails.

Went back to the old virginmedia email and it just seem to have spam and junk. Wanted to know if there was any way to close or lock the email as it now just appears a liability with no use.

So is the VM email account you are using the Primary email account for your family's VM broadband account? In most (but by no means all) cases the Primary email account is the one used by the person who pays the VM bill.

Reading between the lines of your post I'm thinking that the Primary account may well be held by another family member.

If that is the case then they can delete your email account  from their VM  broadband account by:

    • signing into their My Virgin Media account from here  https://www.virginmedia.com/my-virgin-media
    • then clicking on Account settings and then clicking on My Virgin Media account settings
    • Then scrolling down that page and clicking on Manage other MyVirgin Media accounts
    • They will then see your email address listed with the option to Delete it

They do need to bear in mind that VM no longer allow broadband customers to create new VM email accounts if they delete that email account they will not be able to replace it with a new VM email account.

    I hope that's helpful.

      Hello Coenoby,

Yes you had it right and my issue is resolved, primary account holder closed that old email down.

      Many thanks, Jack
