taskbar logo

Hi all,      I seem to have lost the email logo that used to reside on the taskbar on my PC. This means I can no longer see any notifications of new email in my NTLworld address. I get them on my phone no problem but not on my PC. I get the ' outlook '  logo on the taskbar complete with notifications of new mail.    I can't find any reference to email other than outlook.  How can I replace the missing email logo ?       cheers

Which operating system are you using?

Can you find some example images online of the icon/button you are missing?

Hi, thanks for your reply.   Sorry about the delay in response...     I'm using Windows 11 and the button I'm referring to looks like this....   ish.

Were you originally using the 'Mail' app on Windows 11 and were switched over to the 'New Outlook' at the end of last year?

      Thanks for posting that image.

Sorry but I think you need to give us some idea of which email client you have been using to manage your emails on your PC.

In other words, what email software opened up and allowed you to view your emails when you clicked on that red button?

As far as I can recall,  Microsoft email software over the years has had various blue icons and I am struggling to think of any 3rd party email clients with a red envelope like the one in your image.

Having said that, as soon as you post the name I am sure I will have an "ah of course" moment.

It's my Virgin email, which I now access via my homepage.   Thanks

Old versions of Outlook used to have an orange graphics theme to them but I am wondering if @havantaclew is referring to the notification envelope (as per first large image in the section 'Make sure the option is still selected') below

which seemingly can be turned on/off in a variety of ways

If not, a more detailed description is needed to try to help

Edit: Have just reinstated the new mail envelope icon on my own Outlook 2016 installation on Win 10 by following the instructions in the link above in the section 'Make sure the option is still selected'

  • On my Outlook email, the FN key + F2 calls up the email app or the shortcut email icon on the task bar when selected does the same, on Windows 10
