Unable to see the record or series link logo in the user guide

I had an M58 error on the 16th December, even though my box has not been off the network, so I manually reconnected to the network and did a hard system reboot to be on the safe side.

Since then I am unable to see the record or series link logo in the user guide when I have selected a programme to record. 

The are showing up in my planned recordings, but there are normally a minimum of 2 of the same programme and it is not specific to certain channels. It is driving me mad having to constantly check the planned recordings to ensure my favourite shows are being recorded and to delete the duplicate recordings.  Any help gratefully accepted!!

  • Hi all, I can confirm that we experienced a technical fault a couple of weeks back in area ref 18.

    The fault has impacted some TiVo and V6 customers (not all).  The boxes that were impacted will only encounter the fault if the box is rebooted.

    A full reset of the box will resolve this but existing recordings will be lost and planned recordings + series links will need to be re-done.

    Instructions are as follows :

    Power off, hold plus and standby on front panel, power on, let go of buttons at Welcome screen

    The box should be fully functional again within 15 minutes

    Try cancelling all the duplicate recordings and set them again - does this make any difference? Do you have any specific examples?

      Hi japitts, I do not have any duplicate recordings but still have the problem. Strange that Davydub and I have the same failure of our V6 at what could have been the same time and have had this problem since. maybe a firmware problem?

  • This one shows Vanishing Act not showing record symbolthis show it in Planned Recordings and above it shows that the same episode of GP’s being recorded having only pressed it once

  • Hi Daveydub612, You have reminded me that I had something similar happen sbout the same time, I did't notice an error code but I did follow the instructions on my TV to restart my system and it ahs been since then that I have had the problem.It is exactly the same as your photos where a series link or single time record has been accepted by the system recognised on My Planned Recordings but no icon on the guide indicating thast the process has completed. The choices actually record and will be available to play in My Shows. It seems to me to be a software/firmware problem. I live in East Cornwall/Plymouth area.

    Can anyone check with Virgin media to see if something went wrong on or around 16th December affecting our V6 installations

      I am in Plymouth and it has affected a few of my friends who are on Virgin, might be time for a call to them!!

      Not what I wanted but hey ho

      Many thanks for the information, will need to discuss with she who must be obeyed😂 ref losing the recordings but i am sure we can take that if it gives us back the functionality

        No probs...just a heads up that until you do the reset, the M58 error will return every time you reboot the box.  Thanks, Adrian

      Adrian_H, thanks for the info, like Daveydub612 I'll need to get permission. It may take a while until I get permission to delete her previous recordings. One day soon?

        Hi Japitts, Although this is some time since welshgasman had this problem it has recently developed on my V6 box.

        It a[ppears to be the same problem.

        If I choose record on a future programme in the guide the icon to indicate it has been accepted does not appear on the guiide, if I go to my planned recordings the one that I have chosen is there in the list and infact it does get recorded and I can watch it later.

        It is the same if I choose to make a series link, the icon is missing on the guide, it's in my planned recordings, it records and I can rfeplay it.

        But there is no way of looking at the guide to see what I have chosen to record, I have to go to my planned recordings to do this,

        This started happening a couple of weeks ago.

    Now sorted thanks to post from Adrian. Would be so helpful if virgin could have put the info out when they were aware there had been a problem, but hey ho, it’s all done now. Thanks for the help.

  • Hi, I've had exactly the same problem so I rang VM and was told that the recording icon is no longer available on V6 boxes after they were updated in December, and that in future I would have to check my planned recordings to see what is going to record.  So frustrating!

      DebbieMitchellYou've been told a porkie-pie by VM-CS there, was it an offshore agent you spoke to by any chance?

      The record icon is still working on my V6.

        Hi Japitts, I think you are right - it was an offshore agent who told me!  I will wait til I have watched my recordings then try a box reset.
