Outlook shows wrong time on emails [fix]

If like me, you have been wondering why email messages were 8 hours out of whack, I found the answer to be more unnecessary bureaucratic nonsense.  Outlook defaults to PST (Pacific Standard Time) as it has its own settings separate to system setting, which would normally suffice.  If you have the same problem, open up Outlook, then View>View settings>Calendar.

You should now have a box like this:

Scroll down to Time zones and then select the time as above.  It's a bit of faffing about but it'll sort your problem out.  Click on Save and your messages should appear correctly.

    Good spot, but why use that version of Outlook?  I use the classic Outlook from O365 and it's fine.

      I don't use 365 and this what it say about mine, I never had to adjust time zones when I installed it either

    I wanted to keep the original Windows Mail client/Calendar setup, but Microsoft in their infinite wisdom foisted this buggy rubbish upon me and everyone else. I've also blocked adverts, so it just tries to download a message that it'll never get.  I just delete it. I do, however, get the occasional pop up asking me do I want to go ad-free by subscribing to Outlook365 (something I don't want or need). Why can't they use the system time settings (as a default), like everyone else?

    After a bit of faffing about, I found this:

    Again the About Outlook isn't a subsection of the Help menu (like it is with everything else):

    You have Microsoft Outlook Version 1.2024.1204.300 (Production).

    Client Version is 20241115003.42.

    WebView2 Version is 131.0.2903.99.

    How I got there:

    View Settings>General>About Outlook

    There's no File tab, so therefore I must be using the New version.  However, there was/is no NEW displayed in the shortcut itself.  WebView2 is now another attack vector straight into your inbox if malicious code can be inserted into it in some way.
