House refurb how to future proof for fibre?

My brother bought a house that needs total refurb. I've advised him to install cat 6 in the rooms, but can't help thinking as this will be his forever home it might be better to leave some conduit for fibre networking. I was thinking something like a hose pipe as the lumen is smooth and it would be easy to feed this in at a later date? Any thoughts or ideas?

Good idea, but for present make sure you run two Ethernet cables to each location. If you use Cat6a cable it’s spec’s for 10G up to 30m. If you do want to put in trunking, I would use 25mm round electrical conduit.

I would also suggest looking at installing one (or more) cables in the ceiling(s) for PoE Wifi Access Points.  These cables can be run back to the same central location as the rest of the Cat 6 and powered by a PoE switch.
