Can't reset hub/create VMO2 ID

I can't reset the hub as I can't create a VMO2 ID.  Have tried the passkey method which ends up being greyed out.  I can't get the other methods to work either.  Upshot is, I can't access my account.  Can't tell if the problem is with VM, Microsoft, Windows 10 or the rather janky way (which makes it difficult to invert the hub) its set up.

Don't know what else I can do to sort it.

  • Tried a factory reset whilst backing up the old configuration.  Will see how it goes.  Creating a VMO2 ID is still problematic.

Merger soon with Virgin Media - O2 Community

just register an account with O2 community forum using the same details as your VM account as the forums haven't merged as yet. Use your new email ID if you are with another provider as you can't use VM email if you left VM

      O2 Community Forum

If you no longer have the use of VM email,  change  in your VM settings to your current email  ID to suit, submit your new email ID to both forums to get a conformation email from both.

  • I use the ntlworld email address as it never received any spam; it just works.  I can't get past the verification stage using my gmail address.  I do get the gmail address verified occasionally, but I never get to the successfully registered page.

As said above the passkey option pops up, then stops working; there's a dialog box that asks me to insert a USB stick; then nothing happens, just a dialog box with only a cancel option..  I did manage to create a password, but that doesn't work either.  To be proper northern, it's doing my head in (or twisting my melon) as I can't access billing.

Still getting DNS errors and dropped connections as detailed on this thread: Can't seem to get to GRC.com | Virgin Media Community - 5693734.

Gnail is not an IP provider, maybe that's a factor.  I still receive email from VM but can't send as I no longer have an account with VM,  I'm with BT now, so I used my BT email ID for conformation on this forum and in the O2 community forum.

  • A bit of follow up whilst I'm still here: the router did reboot spontaneously a couple of times (around 2-30am), so not sure what's happened to it (whether it's reset successfully or not), but as of now still getting dropped connections.

  • Got a 502 bad gateway error whilst trying to post:

    Proxy Error
The proxy server received an invalid response from an upstream server.
The proxy server could not handle the request

Reason: Error reading from remote server

I also ran diagnostics when I did manage to log in to the router, which completed successfully 2 or 3 times, but on one occasion it didn't; it suggested that I checked/tighten cables.  It's really unreliable and isn't helping my sister with her online training.  Having limited success with some websites.

  • Got an email:

We recently contacted you about an issue we found with your connection to the WiFi Hub.

Unfortunately, our automated fix didn’t resolve the problem, so we have some simple steps for you to follow to get your connection back to how it should be.

Following these steps is usually the quickest and easiest way to get your service back up and running, so we ask that you give it a go first before we arrange an engineer visit.

    Reset the Hub

Follow the link below to reset the Hub. We’ll monitor the Hub’s connection for another 48 hours, so make sure to click on it as soon as possible.

Well there you go, just reset the Hub with the 60 second pinhole reset, and await the next email saying it's all fine?

Since I can't seem to edit the above post properly, wi-fi is rubbish as the router is in my cellar; the house was built in the 1800's.  Since I have a ridiculous amount of cable I could move the router, but I put it in the cellar originally since my connection (at the time) was an NTL cable modem and not a VM router, it was easier to put the cable modem in the cellar.

I acquired a wireless router (purchased seperately) later to extend the setup which worked well until the cable modem packed up, leading me to a superhub 1 (which I still have in a box of junk somewhere).

Things are working (including the wi-fi) and diagnostics seem to be ok apart from the broadband.  I'm not considering upgrading the 2017 desktop this message is typed on, as I don't have the money (due to rising hardware prices/changes in technology) nor do I think there's an economic case to do so.

    It's just annoying.

[TL;DR] Due to the hub's location I don't think a reset would do much (if any) good.

[realtime] OK - I have now reset the router.  Apologies for being a pain in the behind.

Not convinced it wasn't something else causing the problems.
