" I need an omnibox fitted as the installer didnt do it or I will email a complaint" tends to work. Re: Unfinished Installation - Missing external protection box and hub5 I find this situation to be below acceptable service. It should have been installed correctly , an omnibox is standard equipment, who comes without that to an install , Ok the hub they can send and change that but this is unacceptable. Virgin should take a note of who the " engineer " is. Re: Omni box cover replacement Phone Vm. Quickest method, period. This bit different to my connection so less resistant to weather, just put a plastic bag over it for now. Do that now though. Re: Broken external box They will fix it, phone them as said above. Tell them the omnibox is broken. Simple. They can also check the connectors once there as they did with mine, you would be surprised the amount of people who have issues as they never check outside. Watch that tape as well, may leave marks on your wall. BQM after external connection fixed Recently, if you see my other posts, I had my external connection fixed and internal cable changed , attenuator adjusted, so whole thing. It was ok before but it needed a full MOT as it were. This is the graph now, any opinions on this. Between 2am-10am it was not being used, before some spikes may be from router reboot and VPN but 2-10am , no vpn not being used. does it look ok? Re: Engineer visit booked today but external work not completed? I wonder why they dont have "engineers" that are able to do both internal and external work, or at least have some that do both. Re: Hub installation Its is up to you where you want the hub, within reason but , I had this same thought. I decided to leave the hub by the entry point, front corner of the house. Why......so I dont have a ugly cable stretching round my house nailed into the wall. But thats just me. I just use it in modem mode with a good asus mesh system so my hub is hidden out of sight neatly but just a thought before you decided. Re: does this outside box look ok Ive noticed after not having any engineers needed for years, that recently , they have improved. Before they would come in, try to get out quickly without checking everything. Why? its only going to be a recall? ok most customers blame VM for wifi issues and dont know much but some of us know exactly what we are talking about. The guy who came today listened to what I said, agreed, changed the F connectors (peace of mind as I dont care if they are rustproof) ...issue found, f connector barrel was broke, noise when shook around. bear in mind, we dont need a phd in networking to know, that this is THE MAIN connection in to the house so forget wifi and everything ,this bit needs to be 100% solid. He waterproofed the connection, done 15m. Sorted. sometimes customers need to educate themselves on the issue , not leave it to the engineer. ALL FIXED Im happy! I did see the gel pack...Snap on , waterproof. Really good. https://www.tvcinc.com/shared-downloads/CGEL.pdf Re: Exposed wire on fixed connection Just reading this as I need that connector JIC VM dont fit it. Anyone know the exact model/spec. ? Re: does this outside box look ok Just to make sure they actually do that as Im not going to be allowed to put a green box on the wall as it will damage the waterproof red paint, can you communicate this to the person coming directly by adding notes....reason I say this. This connection has been like this for 10 years since those f connectors were changed There have been various " engineer" visits since then where they have been asked to check everything eg cabinet connection, outside , inside connections (this is a simple cable under the drive, drilled into the wall no TV phone etc) so WHY has no one spotted this before, they have looked at it and said its ok yet this is where out noise is coming from on the line, I know as I tested it myself so I am 100% this has led me to phone VM and the women on the phone said " if you want to complain I have to close the complaint on the phone " hmm ok so she sent me an email to complaint about this being ignored and my connection being affected for years. Id rather not complain but get it fixed the way I want.
