Just for the record I was trying to access Thunderbird on my PC which is directly cabled to the router. When looking at my emails on my Iphone it was with the home WIFi. However I am pleased to say the emails are back after almost 2 days so I assume it was to do with the Broadband issue in my area though it seems unlikely as no other people are complaining. I now have 400 emails to sort now but happy it is back. Help - Thunderbird connecting to server error I use Thunderbird to organise my emails. Yesterday Thunderbird has stopped communicating with Virgin I think. The message I get when it tries to get messages is 'connection to server imap.virginmedia.com has timed out'. I get a similar message if I try to send emails (smtp.virginmedia). I can access my emails on the Virgin Media site and on my iphone. No settings have been channged I have the correct ports (993 incoming and 465 outgoing) and everything was working fine until it wasn't. The last email that arrived was 11:31 yesterday morning. In my area (SG6 2BL) there is a Broadband issue according to the system status. This has been flagged up for most of the week but I have had no problems with the internet going down ( and it says it isn't due to be fixed until 17th !) Could this be the reason for the Thunderbird issue? I have re-booted the router and tried the Thunderbird troubleshooter but none of that helped. Any ideas as to what I should do? Thanks [Mod - title edited for clarity] Re: What's going on with email accounts? Thanks - my password manager has remembered my original password for the email clients but I am still told that they have failed. Sigh It says ALERT temporaily blacklisted IP address?? Re: What's going on with email accounts? I am in the same boat as you. I spent tyoo much time trying to get accepted to the new log in and password. Texts not arriving and when I tried verifying through the gmail account it would then close the page. It wouldn't accept my phone number a few times either. A nightmare but now that I can sign in to My Virgin Media with this new password I am thrown out of Thunderbird, my emails on iphone and ipad. They wont accept this new password either. I could cry- no warning .... Re: 360 compared to V6 Thank you for taking the time. It seems sensible advice. It is annoying though to be enticed into a contract and then for it to be changed (though that is probably an error on their part) plus the beckoning of a newer model is hard to resist. I thought I would be sensible and ask knowledgeable people if it is worth the trouble of contacting the customer phione lines. Thanks again. 360 compared to V6 Is the 360 much better than the v6? I was offered a new contract which included an upgrade to 360 on the the contract info sheet emailed to me initially - I have now been sent the new contract and it says the V6 (not the 360) - I had spoken to a Virgin customer adviser on retentions to check that this online offer to me was genuine so surprised to get a different contract sent. Before I make a fuss - is the 360 worth it in peoples opinion? I mainly use the V6 box to find my favourite programmes e.g, Earth, Hospital progs, ... and then watch them when I am ready There is only me here so no need for separate areas. Thanks Solved
